Survarium, sadly feels limited when compared to other shooters due to the mechanical limitations of the Vostok Engine, including such basic mechanics as going prone or leaning, when you take into consideration just how much positional flexibility modern shooters offer players, this is shocking. Survarium is a decent looking shooter built on the rather unimpressive Vostok Engine, while the texture quality is nothing to write home about, the modelling is of fair to high quality, and the maps are designed around high-intensity firefights, allowing for multiple playstyles to coexist. What we have here is a failure to communicate.Įastern European players love games like Survarium, almost every post-apocalyptic/Stalker inspired game will have a large/majority Russian player base, it’s clearly one of their favourite genres, and if you are a fan of the genre, you could do far worse than Survarium, poor monetization aside.īased on the isolated demographic of the player base, I can only recommend Survarium, if you are able to comfortably speak Russian, or are not bothered by playing a team-based game without communication. Survarium, maintains a standalone launcher, so the full player base numbers are no known however, we are able to glean certain statistics based on comments by the developers. Survarium, deserves its mixed review score, decent character models, well-designed maps and a wide array of weapons are countered by a near non-existent western community and one of the worst monetization models I have encountered outside of Chinese MMORPGs.
